MCT Makes Slight Change to Community Theatre Name

(Missoula, MT) MCT, Inc.—the legal name of the non-profit organization that includes a number of programs, both locally and far-reaching—is making a small change to its community theatre name to better reflect its purpose and scope. What was formerly known as the MCT Community Theatre is now called the Missoula Community Theatre.

“The program itself is not changing,” stated Terri Elander, public relations director. “We still offer a season subscription or single-ticket sales for five, high-quality productions each year. We are just simplifying the name. We know that many people have been calling this program the Missoula Community Theatre for years anyway, so, in reality, it’s a very minor change.

The new name will help to clarify the differences between various programs and projects that live under the MCT umbrella. “MCT has always been synonymous with the Missoula Children’s Theatre,” Elander continued, “but now the acronym will clearly reference the programs that involve thousands of Missoula-area participants each year. Whether on stage as actors, singers or dancers, below the stage in the orchestra pit, backstage on the technical crew, in front of house or serving as ushers, this all works because there are local volunteers, working and playing together—building community. It’s not just any community theatre; it’s the Missoula Community Theatre.”
