2011-2012 MCT Community Theatre season announcement

MCT Community Theatre Announces Their New Season,
And It’s Filled With Delightful Classics

MISSOULA, MT — The tradition of holding four musicals and one non-musical play continues at the MCT Community Theatre with these classics: “Dracula,” “She Loves Me,” “Once Upon a Mattress,” “Godspell,” and “West Side Story.”

“This season offers something for everyone, with several shows that will entertain the whole family,” said Michael McGill, MCT Inc.’s executive director, “We’re bringing horror, heart-warming drama, hilarity, hummable tunes, and humanity to the stage throughout the next year.”

“Dracula,” based on Bram Stoker’s novel, opens the MCT Community Theatre season in October, just in time to enjoy Halloween. “She Loves Me” is a Tony Award-winning romantic, musical comedy with performances in the holiday time slot. Audiences may know the “She Loves Me” storyline as “The Shop Around the Corner,” a movie with Jimmy Stewart, or as “You’ve Got Mail” featuring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. “Once Upon a Mattress” is a fun—but fractured—fairy tale based upon “The Princess and the Pea” story and was the vehicle for Carol Burnett’s stardom in the seventies. “Godspell” brings popular music telling the story of Jesus to the Missoula stage, and the last show of the season, “West Side Story,” is based on Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” set in the early sixties, and showcases the conflicts and violence of street life. It features a well-known score by Leonard Bernstein with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
