Skills Classes are specifically designed for students interested in honing their performance skills. Classes are held for six consecutive Saturdays from 10 AM to 12 PM and culminate in an informal demonstration. Classes are held at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts. The fall session focuses on acting skills and the spring session on musical theatre skills.
K-12. The grades are separated into three classes of K-2, 3-6, and 7-12.
Classes can accommodate 16 students per class.
Absolutely not! Students need to come to classes with the ability to follow directions, be respectful of others, responsible for themselves, and a willingness to explore.
No. However, we do encourage students to attend every class to gain the full benefit of the session. Will my student be wearing costumes and makeup for their final demonstration?
No. The final demonstration is informal, and the focus is to celebrate the skills students have learned and not the elements of a final performance.
Students can bring a small snack and drink for our break half-way through class (water is preferred), though it is not required. Students may also be given scripts or other materials to study. These items should be brought to every class. Due to the active nature of the class, it is encouraged that students wear tennis shoes and clothes that are not constrictive or revealing.
No. The final demonstration is free, and seats are available on a first come, first served basis.
Yes and no. We strongly encourage that your student is available for their final demonstration as performing is a main element to solidify all they have learned during their session. However, if the demonstration day is the only day your student cannot attend, we can make accommodations for them to still be successful in their class.
