Adult Shakespeare Trunk Show- Twelfth Night

Rated PG – Parental Guidance Suggested
With our first Shakespeare Trunk Show production class for adults, we race through a wacky world of servants and masters, twins and disguises, clowns and fools, heartache and hijinks in Shakespeare’s most musical comedy. Laughs, catches, stratagems, and songs keep the plot rolling (and the audience rolling in the aisles) all the way to its surprising conclusion. Using simple storytelling, a few props and costumes, a handy-dandy box, and lots of imagination, this “trunk show” telling will bring this tale to life right before your eyes. Some of Shakespeare’s most ridiculous characters alongside some of his most beautiful poetry- this adventure of a sea-voyage turned upside-down and love triangles turned inside out will make you shout, “Play on!”
Trigger Warnings:
There are themes in the story of death and grief. There is also a storyline about bullying that goes to some extremes.
Language:
Only the Shakespearean kind!
(You may here a “S’blood” or an “Out, scab!” or a “Go shake your ears!”)
Fun Fact: Some of Shakespeare’s BEST insults are in Twelfth Night!
Drugs & Alcohol:
Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are constantly drinking, and Sir Toby is constantly drunk.
Violence:
There are a few fights in the show, though one of them is more of a false start.
Sexual Content:
Twelfth Night is filled with sexual innuendos. There are some off-color sexual jokes, but they are masked in poetry and are sometimes harder to catch than others.
Beetlejuice JR.

Rated PG – Parental Guidance Suggested
Ever wonder about that “Whole Being Dead Thing?” The wildly popular Broadway show Beetlejuice, adapted from the Tim Burton film, is coming to give MCT audiences a case of the giggles and the heebie jeebies. This macabre comedy tells the story of the eccentric Lydia, a teen grieving for her mom, and the newbie ghost couple she befriends. But there’s another spectre in the house, and this one isn’t so nice. Beetlejuice is a mean, green, fright machine who causes trouble wherever he goes. When Lydia makes a deal with Beetlejuice to haunt the house, Beetlejuice unleashes ghoulish chaos!
Trigger Warnings:
The story is about death and dying (including suicide), and it is loaded with macabre and dark comedy. This might be frightening for younger audience members.
The character of Lydia, who recently lost her mom, struggles with her feelings of loss and depression.
Language:
“Sucks”, but that’s it.
Drugs & Alcohol:
Nothing to report!
Violence:
There are some spooky haunting scenes, and one character gets stabbed, but it’s kind of no big deal.
Sexual Content:
Nothing to report!
Youth Shakespeare Trunk Show- Macbeth

Rated PG-13 – Parental Guidance Recommended
In our first Shakespeare Trunk Show production class, we explored the magical world of fairies, spells, and enchanted forests. This season, we take on the darker supernatural side of the Bard. Ambition, murder, and madness haunt this tale so terrifying that many dare not speak its name. When Macbeth meets three witches who predict he will become King of Scotland, he and his wife do anything to seize power and keep it. Our accessible, 60-minute adaptation uses creativity, teamwork, and imagination to bring this “cursed” classic to life, all tied together with our trusty trunk.
Trigger Warnings:
This story is about ambition, greed, and a lust for power that results in a lot of darkness and violence.
There are ghosts and witches and some very violent moments that may be frightening to younger audience members.
There is (at least) one character who “goes mad”. This may be triggering to some audience members.
Language:
There are a few tame adult words (“hell”, “damn”) but they are said poetically!
Drugs & Alcohol:
There may be some goblets here or there.
Violence:
This is the primary reason for the rating. This play deals with some of the darkest parts of humanity, and it also takes place during war time. There are several battles. There are several deaths and murders. Shakespearean tragedy, anyone?
Sexual Content:
Nothing to be concerned about in this version!
